Computerized Gait Analysis
Computerized gait analysis can supplement the physician’s evaluation of a patient’s gait by documenting abnormalities not readily observable through detailed analysis of a patient’s gait pattern. It is particularly useful when the choice between alternative treatments cannot be readily determined by the usual clinical examination.
Gait analysis may incorporate different approaches or combinations of approaches for treatment depending on the situation and what is deemed appropriate. It can be used to analyze the effectiveness of different types of orthotics, or to document progress after therapeutic or surgical interventions.
